Joe Wilkins - Happy Here EP
Album Covers, Motion Design and Art Direction for Musician Joe Wilkins

Deep Sea
The first single cover of the EP release was "Deep Sea". This cover took the longest as it was as much about finding the perfect image and text as it was about creating the design language of the album that would be used on the subsequent covers and artworks

Red Dress
With the font and colour decided with Deep Sea, the second single "Red Dress" became an easier task with more of a focus on the potential compositions.

Saviour
With "Saviour" the song was a different style to what Joe had made before and so capturing the feeling of the song was important here. A lot of experiments involved playing around with scale and how the placement of text and the amount of sky kept in the crop led to the image evoking different feelings.

Safety Pin
When it came around to the fourth single, "Safety Pin", Joe already had the exact vision in his head, all I needed to do was follow his instructions and it was completed.

Happy Here Cover
From Deep Sea to Happy Here the design had a full circle moment. From a full colour cover to three black and white single covers to finally finish off with this vibrant EP cover. We had discussions about what the focal point should be and for the EP cover it was the image that needed to convey the message with the text only acting as a discernible feature.

Saviour 2D Animation
To accompany the release of "Saviour" I also created a 2D hand drawn animation. Joe gave me this sketch to work from and I did my best to bring his vision to life. He wanted the seasons to change as the character walked along the path for what seems like infinity.
I animated each section in procreate and brought it all together in After Effects where I could place assets in a 3D space to create that looping movement.
As a nice final touch, that is Joe's handwriting with the lyrics that I have overlaid on top.
